The Computex has proved to be an excellent occasion for displaying the latest high tech mobile devices. Among them, GSmart t600 from Gigabyte also took its part of the glory, as it was officially unveiled.

This is actually the first mobile TV which comes with a Smartcard profile. Moreover, this handset is capable of providing high-end entertainment, including DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB.

The advantage that GSmart t600 brings is that of free mobile TV. Its users can benefit from high quality TV and radio transmissions with no extra charge. The fact that this handset comes with a 2.6 inch display screen only adds to the performance capabilities when it comes to rendering video and still images. Moreover, GSmart t600 has a 260k VGA screen capable of a resolution of up to 480 x 640 pixels, which is quite high for any regular PDA phone.

GSmart t600 comes in an exquisite design, with smooth, simple lines and a white case, which considerably adds a touch of personality. Actually, it looks rather like an iPod, with its large, round navigation button positioned at the bottom of the display.

This smartphone comes with Windows Mobile 6 Professional installed. This also means that it has Office tools all packed along with Windows Media Player and Pocket MSN. Moreover, it is capable of supporting a wide range of video and audio formats, as it also has an integrated MP3 player. A data storage space of up to 256MB of ROM and 64MB of RAM is provided, along with the extra capacity of a microSD card. Connectivity is available through TV-OUT, Bluetooth 2.0 and Mini USB 2.0.

GSmart t600 is available for purchase in the Taiwan region from now on. An estimate price has not been revealed yet for this smartphone.

I bought one of this phone, and it is the most problematic phone that I ever had. The list blow are the problems I have encoountered so far.

1. the screen turns whit upon wakening fom stand-by. Therefore there is no way to tell who is calling.
2. The phone freeze in stand-by mode.
3. low speaker volume, it's useless outdoors.
4. poor reception, the signal bar jump from 0-4 all the time.
5. wi-fi nalfunction for no apparent reason.
6. slow button response.
7. compatatibility issues with some micso sd card.
8. battery drains out in less than 5 hours under moderate usage.

But hey, why worry, at lease you have a brilliant VGA screen.

These problems happen to a lot of people, if you look around forum in Taiwan you will know what I mean. Almost everybody has a problem or two or 8 with this phone.

Gigabyte is a new comer on the phone market, rushes to push unfinished product on the market and it has backfired in Taiwan.

My conclusion is to avoide this phone like a plague.
