GoSolarUSA (GSLO) has left the weekly Peel 520 announcements for a while to introduce a revolutionary new product (or so it claims) called the PREEcharge. Just like the Peel, the PREEcharge is also a protective skin, only this accessory doesn’t make phone calls - it harvests power from radio waves converting them into energy for your iPhone.

Too good to be true? Not really.

The technology has been around for some time now, and while some companies have managed to craft applications that use it properly, there are not that many solutions doing a feasable job out there on the market.

GSLO hopes all this will change when it introduces the PREEcharge, developed by the PREE Corporation.

According tot GSLO, its affiliate has already completed an updated prototype of the revolutionary PREEcharge accessory for the iPhone.

“The PREEcharge is a protective skin that utilizes proprietary technology to harvest power from wireless radio-frequency (RF) signals, including those used by wireless local area networks (WLANs), CDMA transmissions, Bluetooth devices, and more,” GSLO explains in a report that just hit the wires.

“Once collected, the PREEcharge can convert this energy to electricity and power portable devices such as smartphones and tablet computers,” the description goes.

The latest version of the device is a fourth-generation prototype, says GSLO.

It features a 50-percent increase in the efficiency of its power production, allowing for 60% of the battery pack’s power to be supplied by wireless signals, with the other 40 percent harvested by a built-in solar panel, GSLO claims.

“Thanks in large part to our developmental support, the PREEcharge has been refined into what we believe will be a true game-changer in the world of electronics,” said GSLO President and CEO Tyson Rohde.

“We envision a great many smartphones, tablet computers and portable electronics being powered by clean, wireless transmissions and solar energy someday soon. Accordingly, the PREE Corp. is hard at work readying a standout product for release in the new year,” Rohde added.
