Since most of the world's best-known camcorder manufacturers have brought a consumer-grade 3D Full HD model at CES 2011, JVC decided to do exactly the same and unveiled on this occasion the GS-TD1 model, capable of recording footage in a variety of 3D video formats.

As the company informs us, the GS-TD1 comes equipped with JVC 3D Twin HD GT Lens, that enables the capture of Full HD, 1080p 3D content, as well as multiple aspherical lenses for enhanced image reproduction and round iris diaphragms that enable a bokeh effect (background blurring).

Since the camera sports a twin lens, it should come as no surprise that it also features two 3.32 megapixel CMOS sensors (one for each lens), that, combined with the device's high-speed image processing engine, help the camcorder record left and right images at 1920 x 1080i in the newly developed “LR Independent Format”.

However, JVC’s new camcorder offers other shooting modes as well, including the “Side-by-Side Format” for AVCHD (3D) and conventional AVCHD (2D) video recording.

Other features worth mentioning about the new 3D camcorder from JVC include, according to the company, the “3D optical 5x zoom, Optical Axis Automatic Stabilization System for disparity control to give depth to 3D images, JVC’s BIPHONIC technology for dynamic 3D sound and Automatic Parallax Adjustment to optimize the 3D-video comfort zone.”

We'll also have to mention that the camera's functions are accessible via a 3.5-inch 3D touch panel LCD monitor that displays 3D images without any need for 3D glasses, while the recorded footage is stored on the 64GB Internal Flash Memory or a memory card inserted in the SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot.

Beside this top-range 3D camcorder, JVC also unveiled at CES 2011 the GZ-HM960, an HD camcorder that also sports a 2D-to-3D output function, practically turning any 2D footage into 3D, users being able to view the output without glasses on the camera’s 3.5-inch 3D LCD display.

Both of JVC's new 3D camcorders are set to become available in the near future, the JVC GZ-TD1 Full HD 3D camcorder hitting the shelves in March for $1,999.95, while the Everio GZ-HM960 is slated to become available in February for $949.95.
