Over the recent weeks there have been a series of leaked details on the upcoming graphics cards from the two major GPU makers, NVIDIA and AMD. However, up until now there hasn't been any official confirmation for any of these cards, but that isn't the case any longer. The latest release of the GPU-Z utility, developed by TecPowerUp, both the Radeon HD 4890 and the GeForce GTX 275 will be released quite soon, quite possibly in early April. In addition, the new release also offers support for two other Radeon graphics cards, the RV740-based Radeon HD 4750 and HD 4770.

Both the Radeon HD 4890 and the GeForce GTX 275 have been designed on a 55nm graphics processing unit. These cards are meant to compete one against the other in the US$230-US$260 price segment. AMD's card is expected to boast 1GB of GDDR5 memory, clocked at 3800MHz, a GPU core speed of 850MHz and 965 million transistors. On the other side, NVIDIA's card should boast the following GPU, Shader and memory frequencies: 648MHz, 1476MHz and 1107MHz, and will be featured with 896MB of memory, just like the GTX 260 card.

What is probably even more interesting about the latest GPU-Z 0.3.3 release is that it offers support for the relatively uncertain RV740-based Radeon HD 4750 and HD 4770 graphics cards. According to early rumors, these products should be enabled by a 40nm GPU, the first to boast the next-generation manufacturing technology. Both these cards should make their debut by the end of April or in early May, providing users with a mainstream performance solution that is equipped with a real power-saving GPU.

Both the Santa Clara, California and the Sunnyvale, California graphics chip makers are expected to update their family of GPUs in early April. AMD is currently said to be planning the official launch of its Radeon HD 4890 on the 2nd of April, but there's no word on the arrival of the other two RV740-based cards.
