A new iPhone app called GPS Punch! allows managers to keep track of their employees and see when they’re ‘slacking off’. The tool is designed to manage attendance efficiently.

Needless to point out, a tool this intrusive will only be adopted by the most severe of mangers, but it also may prove to be a good business investment if your staff really is slacking off and needs a lesson.

“Having trouble keeping track of your employees in the field and on sales trips? With GPS Punch!, you can use the built-in GPS function on your employees’ smartphones to manage attendance efficiently. As a manager, you will be able to see your employees’ actions like never before!”, says redfox, Inc., the developer of the application.

The makers recommend the free app for several lines of work, including fieldwork; traveling salesmen; security work; postal work; and construction work.

Some of the reasons redfox could think of for using this app include:

・Your employees just won’t stop slacking off after a sales call. ・You want to see where your staff is right now! ・You want to monitor the efficiency of your workers’ actions. ・You want to manager employee attendance from the palm of your hand.

The app can achieve positive results by keeping location records of staff attendance, and the ability to record up to 6 actions: Begin Task, End Task, Take a Break, End Break, In Transit, Office Visit.

Managers can view attendance history, display travel path in map, and  view group member history.

An account is required to use the software and it’s compatible with all iDevices, including the iPad. It also requires iOS 4.0 or later.
