A racing game that shows what the Microsoft console can do

Forza Motorsport 5 is a racing game from developer Turn 10, published by Microsoft on the Xbox One home console on launch day, alongside others titles.

The game uses the hardware power of the new platform in order to deliver the most beautiful racing experiences in the game world, with very detailed cars that can be admired from a variety of angles and with tracks that have been carefully chosen to resemble their real-world counterparts.

There were moments in Forza Motorsport 5 when I was tempted to use the rewind mechanic simply so that I could once again catch a glimpse of the sun shining down on Prague, while I was passing an opponent at 200 km per hour.

The team at Turn 10 has also done a good job with the driving model of the game, which can be very forgiving for newcomers when assists are activated, but can also be tweaked in order to offer a stiff challenge for experienced long-term fans.

Another feature that captures the philosophy of the Xbox One is the Drivatar, which compiles a profile for each player and then sends via the cloud to populate races for the entire community, creating a messier and more fun alternative to traditional A.I.

Forza Motorsport 5 is not without its flaws, the most glaring of which is the way the economy has been set up to encourage microtransactions, but this is clearly the best experience that a fan of the Xbox One can buy at the moment.

The best game I have played on the Xbox One is, without question, FIFA 14, which uses the Ignite engine to offer an extraordinary experience and, when two players are engaged, can create addiction.

Unfortunately, the game was previously offered on pretty much all other available gaming devices, which leaves Forza Motorsport 5 with an award it never fully earned.
