The PlayStation 4 was finally released by Sony after a lengthy wait back in November in quite a few regions around the world, like North America or Europe, and it continues to appear in different countries as we speak.

Alongside it, quite a few games were launched, both exclusive and third-party ones. Among them, however, the best is Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Developer Guerrilla Games has made a name for itself by being the most tech-focused of Sony's internal teams, proving it multiple times with Killzone 2 and 3 on the PS3.

With Shadow Fall, the Dutch studio had to show off the PS4's power and deliver a true next-gen experience that will amaze new owners of the Sony console.

Fortunately, the studio more than achieved this, delivering in the form of Killzone: Shadow Fall a great experience with stunning visuals, great gameplay, and a good story that wasn't afraid of switching things up.

First up, in terms of visuals, Killzone: Shadow Fall certainly delivers a next-gen experience, managing to output effects and graphics on a level that's quite close to DICE's Battlefield 4, for example. From big set-piece moments, to small effects that make the world feel realistic, Shadow Fall has a lot of attention to detail.

The gameplay is also quite good, managing to retain the weight of controls from previous games but also introducing many new elements, like the OWL drone, which is controlled by the DualShock 4's touchpad.

While the single-player is filled with many scripted moments, the multiplayer is also delightful, as Guerrilla allowed fans to create custom Warzones that deliver many unique experiences, keeping the online mode fresh.

Last but not least, the story manages to take the franchise's universe forward and delivers a great change of pace, putting players in the boots of a Shadow Marshall, instead of the old typical soldiers from the previous games, and taking him through a new journey that fleshes out the conflict between the Vektans and the Helghast.

For all these motives and more, Killzone: Shadow Fall is among the few must-own PS4 games.
