To say that a Battlefield game looks great is stating the obvious, as developer DICE has made sure that, with each new installment in its first-person shooter series, the visuals become even more impressive.

With Battlefield 4, the studio has managed to deliver the best-looking experience of the year.

While many thought that with Battlefield 3 and its Frostbite 2 engine the team at DICE had hit its peak, with Battlefield 4 and the new Frostbite 3 the studio pushed the benchmark even higher, setting a new gold standard.

Besides actually looking good, the game's single-player campaign is also geared towards taking players on a beautiful and intense journey in terms of visuals, action, and gameplay.

From the gorgeous vistas in Baku, to the rain-filled environments in Shanghai, or the pretty intense naval battles in the Pacific, the game's story has many set-piece moments.

What's also quite impressive with Battlefield 4 is that the same level of visual fidelity is kept within the multiplayer campaign.

Here, provided you have a powerful computer, you can enjoy all sorts of great moments powered by the great community of Battlefield fans, who have already crafted some crazy stunts and tricks inside the game's online experience.

While, as always, the PC reigns supreme in terms of visuals thanks to the great improvements made by DICE on that platform, the console editions, both the current ones for PS3 and Xbox 360, but also the next-gen ones for the PS4 and Xbox One, also look pretty good and remind others that the Frostbite 3 engine can be scaled depending on a platform's abilities.

I just hope that DICE will be able to continue surpassing its previous efforts with the next game and that it will help EA's other studios master the Frostbite 3 technology, especially since most of the new titles from the publisher are powered by it.
