We're looking forward to ending the trilogy of Command Shepard's adventures next year

We’ve already looked back on quite a lot of great games that appeared throughout this year but, until we continue our Softpedia Game of the Year 2011 awards, we thought we’d share with you our most anticipated game of next year, which is Mass Effect 3.

While next March is shaping up to be an extremely busy one, with the likes of Max Payne 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, possibly Diablo 3 (notice a pattern?) appearing throughout the month, I’m looking forward the most to once again go through intergalactic adventures with Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 3.

While the franchise started out a bit awkwardly at first, as Mass Effect 1 was definitely in the need for a bit more polish, its sequel managed to thoroughly impress not just by polishing the third person shooter mechanics but also by continuing the adventures of Commander Shepard, with decisions from the first game making an impact on your new adventures.

Now, the end of Shepard’s quest is close, as Mass Effect 3 will see if the hero (or heroine, in my case) can unite the galaxy against the evil Reapers.

I already got a chance to experience the game at Gamescom 2011 back in August and I was quite impressed with the whole experience. Since then, we heard that it’s also going to include a Galaxy at War cooperative mode, which does sound quite interesting, as well as lots of other improvements over its predecessors.

Couple this with the ability to once again import your character from previous games, as well as the great production values of BioWare, and this will certainly be among one of the most sought after games of 2012.

Until its March 6 release date, however, we can look forward to January, when a beta, both for the single-player and multiplayer modes, will be released.

Besides Mass Effect 3, what’s your most anticipated game of next year? Share your picks below.
