I was expecting a lot of great games at the end of this year, and among them, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 was pretty high up the list.

Sadly, LucasArts managed to disappoint fans once more, and released a game that even if it played better than the original from two years ago, was a severe disappointment in terms of story.

I'm a pretty decent Star Wars fan, and after going through quite a lot of eccentric games released in the franchise, the original Force Unleashed was a breath of fresh air.

Even if the hack and slash mechanics were a bit awkward and the platforming was weird, to say the least, the story was top notch.

We had a relatable character, Starkiller, forced by Darth Vader to act against the enemies of the Empire, and, as usual, ended up helping the Rebel Alliance.

Now, with The Force Unleashed 2, LucasArts hyped up the fact that the story of Starkiller will be continued in a new way, and that we will find out more about the characters from the first game.

While we did find out new details, the delivery of the story was clumsy, to say the least, and the characters became extremely annoying, from Starkiller to General Kota or even Juno, the hero's girlfriend.

The Force Unleashed 2 was an improvement in terms of gameplay, as Starkiller controlled much better, but seeing as how the story was the most important part, you got bored extremely fast with his space exploits, no matter how many stormtroopers you would kill by using the Force or your lightsabers.

Add in the fact that the level design, while pretty solid, was extremely repetitive, and this meant that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 was the biggest disappointment of the year.

If you're still tempted to try it, the game is available for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS, as well as for the iOS mobile platform.
