Gretech Corp., makers of GOM Player, rolled out a fresh update for the application. Build 2.2.56.5183 is a maintenance revision aimed at repairing various glitches affecting the functionality of the product.

First on the list of changes, the developer announced that the current release is officially compatible with the latest Windows operating system, 8.1.

Other than this, the new GOM Player repairs the issue that caused MP3 files with album art details not to be played when using Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR). Another glitch that has been removed affected the EVR video output setting.

The player should now be able to run properly MP4 files created with Windows Movie Maker.

Improvements are on the list of modifications, too. The new version comes with better playback support for files requiring the TSCC codec and with Intel Quick Sync Video hardware video encoding and decoding technology enabled.
