Peter Molyneux's startup, 22cans, has announced that GODUS will be available for download on Mac and Windows next week, September 13, for $19.99 / £14.99 / €18.99.

“Anyone can be a god starting September 13th with the Beta release of GODUS from 22cans. The game will be downloadable through Steam Early Access for PC Windows and Mac for $19.99 / £14.99 / €18.99,” reads the official announcement from 22cans.

A game where players aim to become influential deities, GODUS is inspired from titles like Dungeon Keeper, Black & White, and Populous.

Though it uses key elements from these games (and likely others as well), developer Peter Molyneux says, “I already feel there is nothing in the world like GODUS.”

In the game, players will attempt to “sculpt every inch of a beautiful world that you look down upon, on which a population of followers settle and multiply.”

The more followers (believers) you gain, the more powerful you become. And if they believe in you enough, they’ll even go to war to conquer land for you. Sounds like tons of fun!

“Whilst you are free to lose yourself in this tranquil experience, other gods reign outside of the ever-expanding reach of your influence,” says 22cans.

“If you so wish, you may challenge other gods and their civilizations to epic multiplayer battles that involve hundreds of followers fighting in your name whilst you cast devastating god powers from the skies above,” according to the studio.

The minimum system requirements for the Mac version of GODUS are OS X 10.7.5 (Lion), a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1 GB of RAM, a broadband Internet connection, and 1 GB of available disk space for installing the game.

Recommended specs include OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), 2.4 GHz Intel Quad Core CPU, and 4 GB RAM. Find out more about GODUS on Steam.
