Owen Taylor announced earlier today, October 18th the immediate availability for download and upgrade of the GNOME Shell 3.2.1 user interface for the GNOME 3 desktop environment.

The GNOME Shell package provides basic UI (User Interface) functions for the GNOME 3 desktop environment, such as launching applications and switching to windows.

GNOME Shell 3.2.1 is part of the new GNOME 3.2.1 upgrade, which will be available sometime tomorrow, October 19th, 2011.

GNOME Shell 3.2.1 comes with over 20 bugfixes and improvements, as well as updated translations. Among these, we can mention: improved searching for contacts and applications in overview mode, on-screen keyboard fixes, login mode fixes, added context menus with Paste/Cut options for most entries, restored IM's state on startup, and more.

Why did GNOME remove the ability for the user to customize their desktop. The one-size-fits-all thinking of Microsoft and Apple has crept into Linux. I did not want to but now I use KDE. Thanks GNOME...

I won't be using Gnome3 unless and until it becomes suitable for IT professional use.
