GNOME Shell is the first application in the new release cycle that has been updated, but only to fix a nagging problem that somehow evaded the developers in the first place.

GNOME Shell 3.10 has introduced a huge number of changes and new features, including fixes for password dialogues, for label, menus, and so on.

The Wayland people are also considering transforming GNOME Shell into a compositor for their display server, making GNOME the first desktop environment to get this honor.

In any case, one day after the release of GNOME Shell 3.10, a new version called 3.10.0.1 has been pushed in the GNOME archives with a fix for just one problem that affected the login screen.

More details about GNOME 3.10 can be found in our initial report. You can also download the source package for GNOME Shell 3.10.0.1 right now from Softpedia.
