The GNOME developers announced a few days ago the immediate availability for download of the GDM (GNOME Display Manager) 3.8.1 package, just in time for the 3.8.1 release of the popular GNOME desktop environment.

GNOME Display Manager (GDM) 3.8.1 now uses common PAM stacks for OpenEmbedded, a software framework to create Linux operating systems aimed for embedded devices.

GNOME Display Manager 3.8.1 will now launch the GNOME Initial Setup application only if there are no user accounts available, and it checks for logind instead of systemd.

Moreover, lots of translations have been updated in this first point release of the GDM (GNOME Display Manager) 3.8 package.

GDM is the graphical login manager of the GNOME desktop environment. It features a face browser, a language/session type selector and an optional logo.

Download GNOME Display Manager 3.8.1 right now from Softpedia.
