The GNOME Project prepares to release the first maintenance version of their GNOME 3.16 desktop environment, which means that many core components and applications received improvements, such as GNOME Control Center.

According to the release notes, GNOME Control Center 3.16.1 comes with an AppData file that prevents the application from being removed from GNOME Software. A crash has been fixed in the IPv6 settings dialog in the Network section.

Fixes for some memory leaks have been implemented in the Display section, and the dialog will now close when the RR configuration changes. The section headings have been made accessible in the Power section.

The "Remove" button for locked accounts has been removed from the Online Accounts section, which gets a workaround for preventing the "attention-needed" icon from widening the list and getting hidden.

The Color, Printers, Sound, and Wacom sections were updated as well

In addition to the above, the Color section of GNOME Control Center received several improvements, such as the ability to set the default profile quality at startup and the user profile title when generating a new profile. Also, it is now possible to change the profile color by activating the list box row.

GNOME Control Center now recognizes more supply types in the Printers section, addresses the duplicated Bluetooth devices issue in the Sound component, and displays restart notifications when the account type is changed in the User Accounts section.

Moreover, three issues have been repaired in the Mouse and Touchpad section, related to checking touchpad capabilities when multiple devices are available, and sensitivity of the two-finger scroll and tap-to-click toggles in conjunction with the libinput X11 driver.

Last but not least, support for tablets that have styluses without an eraser, such as the UC-Logic or Huion, has been added to the Wacom section, which now requires Udev to be present in order to support the Wayland display server.
