GFI Software has launched GFI LanGuard 2014. The latest version of the patch management, vulnerability assessment and network auditing software comes with some interesting new features.

The list of new additions includes vulnerability assessment for iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile devices, and support for Linux and 20 other third-party patches.

GFI LanGuard now supports Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms. As far as Linux is concerned, all major distributions, such as Suse, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Debian and CentOS, are included.

The list of third-party applications supported by the patch management system includes applications such as the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign), FTP clients (Core FTP and WinScp), online storage and backup (Google Drive, Box), documents (LibreOffice), instant messaging (Pidgin), media (Audacity and VLC) and utilities (ImgBurn, Notepad++).

The solution allows small and mid-sized organizations to identify, assess and address potential security risks with minimal administrative effort. It can also be utilized by IT teams to inventory devices on their networks, receive alerts in case changes are detected on the network, and ensure security solutions are enabled.

The comprehensive patch management mechanism also ensures that organizations are compliant with industry requirements.

GFI LanGuard 2014 supports up to 2,500 devices, all of which can be managed from a single console.

“Vulnerabilities are being discovered everywhere, in software, network attached gear and now mobile devices. GFI LanGuard continues to empower SMB administrators with enterprise class vulnerability assessment capabilities and enables them to keep their network up-to-date,” said Sergio Galindo, head of global product management at GFI Software.

“With the rapid influx of mobile devices into the workplace and becoming potential exploitation points for cybercriminals, this new release enables SMBs to detect vulnerabilities on devices running today’s most popular mobile operating systems,” Galindo added.

A 30-day trial for GFI LanGuard 2014 is available on GFI Software's website.
