Next week's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco is the place where it's going down, yet Microsoft and BioWare are silent on what will be available to see and play. It's not even a certainty whether the demos will be playable as Eurogamer says, but we are keeping hopes up because
BioWare's first installment of Mass Effect (or "
Jack Bauer in space"
as BioWare's president likes to call it) Revelation, is almost finished.
Being the first installment of a planned trilogy for the
Xbox 360, Revelation promises to be a blast when it launches and many articles posted on the web have been circulating up and down about
Mass Effect being released sooner than later, or that it will be a huge 50 hour quest game, yet all of this will be confirmed next week at the GDC in San Francisco.
The main story and character interactions in Mass Effect will be affected by the player's chosen morality. Unlike their previous titles, this time BioWare's emphasis is on becoming a pure "good" or pure "evil" character. Some characters may not like the player or leave the player's squad if the player's moral direction differs from their squadmate's one too much.
The overall story is also affected by the player's personal choices as Project Director Casey Hudson of BioWare said: "The player's style of play throughout the game will result in diverging endings that determine the fate of humanity itself." This statement was made regarding not only this first installment, but the planned sequels in the trilogy as well. Again, keeping hopes up for the "Jack Bauer in Space" demo presentation next week.
