14 DAY TRIAL // AVADirect, a well renowned custom computer builder, announced that it has started retailing the rugged GD3015 Windows 7-running tablet developed by GD Itronix and based on Intel's Atom Silverthorne processors.
More specifically, the tablet uses the Atom Z530 processor which includes a single computing core, with support for the HyperThreading technology, clocked at 1.6GHz.
This is paired with an US15 series system controller hub (SCH), also known under the code name of Poulsbo, which includes a GMA 500 graphics core developed by Imagination Technologies and derived from the PowerVR SGX 535.
Thanks to this design decision, the GD Itronix should be able to support 720p as well as 1080i hardware decoding.
AVADirect offers its customers of pairing the Atom Z530 chip with as much as 2GB of system memory, a 64GB solid state drive or a 500GB HDD, while 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity is standard.
Furthermore, users can configure the GD Itronix tablet with a HSDPA mobile broadband card from AT&T, an optional GPS module or with a barcode scanner, which complements the already installed 2MP snapper.
Other feature include a built-in fingerprint reader, a PC Card Type II slot, a multi-format card reader, an optional RFID 13.56MHz chip, two USB 2.0 ports, a VGA video output and an RS323 serial port.
The 10.4-inch resistive screen features a special anti-glare finish to make it legible in direct sunlight and has a native resolution of 1024x768 pixels.
Including the 1880mAh battery, which can power the tablet for up to five hours, the GD3015 weights roughly 1.2Kg. Users who require more running time can also add an external 3760mAh battery pack.
