Mobile phone users in Australia interested in the purchase of a new, high-end smartphone on the airwaves of Optus can now head over to the carrier’s stores and order a GALAXY Note smartphone today.

The wireless carrier has made the smartphone available for purchase on its airwaves for free on monthly plans that start at $79 per month, but also enables users to purchase it with monthly payments on cheaper contracts.

The smartphone was already added to the carrier’s online store, and those who would like to make a purchase from the comfort of their homes can now do so.

Featuring a 5.3-inch super AMOLED touchscreen display that can deliver a 1280x800 HD resolution, the Samsung GALAXY Note is the largest Android-powered mobile phone in the world.

Not only does the smartphone offer great viewing of photos, videos and other docs while on the go, courtesy of this large screen, but it also delivers great performance capabilities, due to the fast 1.4GHz dual-core application processor it was packed with.

The handset also features 16GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage via a MicroSD card. It packs an 8MP camera on the back, with auto-focus and LED flash, as well as a 2MP Front camera for video calling.

“Communication is no longer limited to just text. With the Samsung GALAXY Note you can draw and send your ideas, sketch drawings or write notes with increased accuracy and ease,” Samsung notes.

“The Samsung GALAXY Note is a new type of Smartphone, born of insight and innovation. It is the ultimate in mobile productivity devices, providing you with the ability to freely capture and create ideas anywhere and everywhere.”

The handset offers support for Optus’ network, along with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/n (2.4GHz / 5GHz) and Bluetooth BT 3.0 connectivity capabilities, DLNA, USB 2.0, 3.5mm Audio Jack, and GPS receiver.
