Officially announced on January 5th during the 2011 International CES event, the LG G-Slate Android tablet is getting closer to its market availability. Even though no release date has been mentioned in the official announcement, the tablet was spotted at the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) four days ago.

Recently, the tablet has received its own information page at T-Mobile, where customers can sign up to be notified when further details about the device become available. Obviously, the registration process requires customers to enter a valid email address.

The T-Mobile G-Slate is supposed to be among the first tablets to run on the tablet-optimized Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform.

Honeycomb was specifically designed for devices with larger screen sizes and introduces unique aspects of tablet use cases and form factors. Thanks to the new optimized system, the user experience improves, especially when it comes to widgets, multi-tasking, browsing, notifications and customization.

To enhance the user's experience even more, the devices comes with Google's latest innovations, such as Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction, as well as Google Talk with video and voice chat.

“LG is dedicated to continuing its role as an innovation leader and is thrilled to announce its entry into the tablet marketplace with the G-Slate,” said Jeff Hwang, president of LG Mobile Phones.

“Streamlining everyday tasks and enhancing entertainment with blazing fast 4G speed, the T-Mobile G-Slate by LG will deliver the latest in Android technology and provide users with an advanced tablet experience,” added Hwang.

Unfortunately, the T-Mobile G-Slate page doesn't provide any new information regarding the tablet's specs, other than the fact that it features 4G compatibility and Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which was already known.

As a side note, T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network is not available everywhere in the U.S., so customers should check out coverage before purchasing the G-Slate.
