Disney Interactive Studio is saying that it plans to release a videogame based on the upcoming G-Force movie, which is developed by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The movie and the videogame are set to arrive in July 2009. The latter should be launched on the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the PS2, the PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo DS and even the PC.

The game will take the premise of the movie and will flesh it out using specific gameplay mechanics. The title will be a platformer with a lot of action elements. The main characters are (better be prepared for this) highly trained guinea pigs, which use a lot of special gadgets to complete their extremely dangerous missions. The two characters that players will be able to control directly will be Darwin, the aptly named leader of the G-Force, and a commando called Mooch, a specially trained housefly that does reconnaissance work for the team.

Their enemies are a robot army made up of household appliances that have gone evil. The challenges are both in fighting the robotic enemies and in solving the puzzles built around the environment.

Craig Relyea, who is the senior vice president of global marketing for Disney Interactive Studios, declared that “The G-Force video game gives players the opportunity to take on new enemies, weapons and missions that pick up where the film leaves off and expands the experience. G-Force is filled with fast-paced action and memorable characters that will appeal to video game fans of all ages.”

G-Force is set to be the first 3D movie that Jerry Bruckheime produces. The voices of the main characters will be provided by actors like Sam Rockwell, for Darwin, and other Hollywood regulars, like Tracy Morgan, Penelope Cruz or Nicolas Cage.
