The downright bizarre toys are the brainchild of a company dubbed I Heart Guts, come in all shapes and sizes

Admittedly, Halloween is long gone. Still, this does not mean that we have to wait until next year to feed our macabre side. Not when this one company is busy making all sorts of gory toys for us to cuddle with until we can once again run around dressed like witches and vampires.

The company, dubbed I Heart Guts, is in the business of making fuzzy toys shaped like lungs, intestines, hearts, kidneys and whatever other organs are part and parcel of your average Joe and Jane's anatomy.

Contrary to what some might assume, these toys aren't all that gory. True, they are shaped like organs, but this does not change the fact that they are insanely cute, what with their smiley faces and their teeny tiny eyes staring deep into your soul.

How it all started

According to Huffington Post, I Heart Guts is the brainchild of a woman named Wendy Bryan, who took a sudden interest in attaching human emotions and even personalities to organs back in 2005, after going throw several bad relationships.

Thus, it was while feeling really down in the dumps that Wendy Bryan first grabbed a pencil and drew a broken heart. Because of the mood she was in those days, the woman wasn't exactly living a healthy lifestyle. Hence, the broken heart was soon followed by a damaged liver and lung.

I Heart Guts is the brainchild of an anatomically obsessed illustrator who loves internal organs and all they do,” Wendy Bryan writes on the company's website.

“The guts grew from a single drawing of a broken heart, after a string of bad hookups, dead-end relationships and lame-o boyfriends. At the time, I was also doing a lot of drinking and smoking, so a sad liver and bummed-out lung followed,” she adds.

Apparently, it was the man who Wendy Bryan eventually married that encouraged her to turn her drawings into actual toys. Soon enough, the gore enthusiast set the basis for I Heart Guts.

The toys make perfect gifts

They might be shaped like internal organs, but these toys are about as cute as a toy could ever hope to be. What's more, they are fairly accurate given the fact that they are, well, toys.

As noticeable in the photos included in the gallery below, Wendy Brian's colons, gallbladders, teeth, stomachs, lungs, hearts and ovaries look very much like the organs that inspired them. The good news is that one does not have to be a trained surgeon to handle them.

Just for the record, it must be said that these plush organs currently sell for $20 (€16) a piece. According to Wendy Bryan, they are best described as something one would expect to see when dissecting Hello Kitty.
