Future Need for Speed games after the upcoming NFS: Rivals might bring back the vehicle tuning feature from previous installments, like Underground, according to developer Ghost Games.

Need for Speed: Rivals, the upcoming racing game in the long running series, brings back a focus on personalization but, as we heard yesterday, it will only allow players to tweak the looks of their cars, the performance, and the Pursuit Tech powers.

Fans were eager to see the return of vehicle tuning from previous entries like NFS: Underground, but it seems that, at least with Rivals, such a complex mechanic won't be present.

The studio isn't ruling out its return for the next games in the series, however.

"We know personalization is big feature that our fans have been asking for and this is only the beginning. This is something we’ll continue to build upon in future Need for Speed games," it said on its website.

For now, NFS fans will have to make do with the current personalization system in Rivals when it launches in November.
