Official announcement confirms the closure within 48 hours

It was just a couple of days ago when I was reporting that there are more MMO games than anyone can play, and it seems I was right, since one of the side-effects of this MMO explosion is the fact that some of them will eventually die just because there are not enough players for them. Of course, this is only in the best interest of the gamers, since this way only quality titles will live. Or not?

I am asking that question because Fury, an MMO developed by Auran, is clearly not one of the worst massively multiplayer online games available out there, yet its developers have just announced that they will stop providing the game. This happens due to a poor reception at launch which later expanded to become a true financial problem. And when there is no money, a game can't survive.

The announcement was made through the official forums of the game: "We have reached our time limit to find a solution that would help us keep the Fury servers open. Sadly, no solution has been found and so we have no alternative than to shut the servers down in 48 hours," an Auran staff member said, adding that the website will also close in 48 hours - which basically means that Fury will kind of disappear from the face of the Earth. It's a sad day for MMO fans...

"To all those players who have enjoyed Fury and played countless battles, I am sorry that we could not find a viable business model that would allow you to continue playing. To all those naysayers and doomsdayers, we know that deep down you wanted Fury to succeed," he said, adding that the company informed all game retail stores to remove copies of the games from their shelves and urged all players who bought Fury during the past 30 days to return to the store and get their money back.
