Several riots broke out in Baltimore, US, this past Monday following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old man who died of a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody.

Local media says the riots turned the city into what can only be described as a war zone, forcing authorities to declare a state of emergency and institute a 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. curfew.

Among the people who took part in these riots was a young man who dressed in black from head to toe before hitting the streets and picking a fight with law enforcement officers sent to control the crowds.

The young man's mom messed up his plans

While he way busy rioting, the man made the mistake to walk in front of a few cameras and was caught on film throwing rocks at police officers. His mother saw him on live television and went after him, ABC reports.

Apparently, the woman really didn't approve of the young man's behavior. So much so that, when she found him, she started smacking him, not carrying that thousands were watching her discipline her son.

Between a carefully placed smack and one or two insults and swear words, the woman managed to herd her son away from the rioters. One can only assume that, when they got home, the man got much worse.

Many are praising the woman's behavior

It might be that violence is never the answer, but this woman in Baltimore is now somewhat of a hero, with many saying that she did right when smacking some much needed sense into her rioting son and forcing him back home.

Mind you, her impromptu lesson to her son even landed this woman the title of mother of the year. Apparently, there are many who agree that good parenting means slapping your kid every once in a while.

Truth be told, the woman's outburst is pretty shocking. Still, the fact remains that, had she not pulled her son out of the riot, the young man was in real risk of suffering more extensive injuries than a bruised ego.
