The “Free Barrett Brown and the Jeremy Hammond Defense Committee” will organize a fundraiser on August 19, 2013, at ThoughtWorks NYC.

The event’s organizers hope to raise funds for the defenses of the two notorious Internet activists, both of whom have been charged for their involvement in the cyberattack against think tank Stratfor.

“All proceeds will be split evenly between the two and will directly benefit Barrett's legal team and Jeremy's jail support fund. This is a fundraiser event and variety show with notable speakers, musical performances, and the auctioning of items,” organizers noted.

Back in May, Hammond, who has been in jail for over 500 days, pleaded guilty to hacking the systems of several organizations.

On the other hand, Barrett Brown faces up to 105 years in prison for various charges, including for sharing data stolen from Stratfor by Anonymous hackers.
