Despite smaller than expected sales since its July launch, The Secret World will continue to get support, in the form of more content and balance updates, during the coming months.

Ragnar Tornquist, who is the leader of Funcom and the main developer behind the game, has stated, “The Secret World has a bright future ahead of it and the team remains dedicated to delivering monthly content updates.”

The CEO believes that his own game can deliver a unique experience to gamers despite the competition it is facing from the Mists of Pandaria expansion for World of Warcraft.

Tornquist added, “And that’s why we’re not about to change. We’re not going to play it safe. We won’t be introducing classes or levels, elves or centaurs, and regardless of the competition, we won’t back down from our original vision. We’re going to keep doing what we’re good at.”

The executive believes that the experience created by The Secret World is one that can survive in the long term because it offers a set of ideas, from the puzzles to the mix between the real world and high fantasy concepts, which cannot be found anywhere else.

Tornquist also wants to attract new players to the game, although it’s not clear how the company can do that short of making the game free-to-play.

Funcom says that the third issue for The Secret World will be launched during the fall and will focus on Halloween and on cats, with a new ten-person raid set to be added to the New York area during October.

The developers are also planning to deliver more weapons for gamers to take out enemies with and more customization elements.

A new feature linked to Achievements will also be added, although Tornquist did not make it clear how it will work.

Since launch, The Secret World has sold about 200,000 copies.
