I am a sucker for romance, particularly of the Victorian type so, naturally, when the “Great Expectations” teaser trailer came out, I was thrilled. Above is the brand new, full official trailer for the film.

Directed by Mike Newell, “Great Expectations” boasts a very impressive cast and, by the looks of the trailer, astounding visuals.

I can’t say if we’re in for any surprise as regards the narrative but, if I were to be picky, I’d probably be somewhat miffed that the trailer reveals the big twist in the book.

Luckily, I’m not that picky, so I’ll just assume that the film is targeted at readers of Dickens’ novel and not newcomers to the story.

Jeremy Irvine plays Pip, the orphan who sees his life turned around when a mysterious benefactor decides to make a gentleman out of him, thus introducing him to a world he would have never had access to otherwise.

Holliday Grainger plays the beautiful and cold-hearted Estella, while the exquisite Helena Bonham Carter seems to have been born to play Miss Havisham.

Robbie Coltrane and Ralph Fiennes also star.

“Great Expectations” will be getting a limited release as of November this year.
