One of the smartphones that Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has been long rumored to plan on bringing to the market before the end of this year is a Windows Phone 8.1-based flavor of the HTC One (M8) flagship, and it seems that we’re very close to seeing the handset going official.

All is expected to go down on August 19, when Microsoft will hold a press event in New York, with the handset set to be unveiled either as HTC One (M8) for Windows or as HTC One (W8).

One way or the other, it seems that Verizon Wireless is as good as confirmed to be the wireless carrier that will carry the device. However, we should see this phone made available worldwide.

According to a recent article on WPCentral, the full hardware specs of this device have already emerged online, and they bring little surprise.

Previous rumors on the matter suggested that the new handset would sport the same internal circuitry as the Android-based counterpart did, and the new report confirms that.

Thus, the mobile phone should arrive on shelves with a 5-inch Super LCD3 touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution at a 441ppi pixel density and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Moreover, the phone should sport a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, which will ensure great performance capabilities at all times.

Moreover, the handset is expected to feature an HTC UltraPixel camera on the back, which should be the same duo-camera setup that HTC One (M8) has been released with, thus capable of offering similar features (including U-Focus).

A 5-megapixel front camera will also be present in the package, providing users with an appealing experience when it comes to taking selfies or to making video calls while on the go.

The specs list of this smartphone also includes a 2600mAh battery, along with HTC Boomsound front speakers, and the entire set of usual connectivity capabilities and sensors.

Just as expected, the Windows Phone 8.1-based HTC One (M8) will offer support for the HTC Dot View case, so that users could see various notifications without opening the phone (such as date, time, weather, and reminders).

The case will also allow users to see who is calling, and to answer or reject the call without opening it. Moreover, it will sport Cortana integration, enabling instant access to the digital personal assistant through a simple swipe down.

Although an official confirmation on the device has yet to be provided, it appears that things have been already carved in stone, so don’t expect changes in the specs list above when the phone is announced next week.
