Only weeks ahead of its supposed official unveiling at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin, Sony’s upcoming Xperia Honami smartphone has had its hardware specifications fully detailed, alongside press photos that show a bit more of its outer design.

Just as previously rumored, Honami is set to arrive on the market as the successor of the Xperia Z, while featuring the same screen size as this flagship device, but with upgraded hardware packed inside, a report that emerged on the ePrice forums in China shows.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to arrive on shelves with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, which should go along nicely with the 5-inch screen of the device, SlashGear notes.

Furthermore, the phone will feature TRILUMINOUS Display with X-Reality technology from Sony, as well as a massive 20.7-megapixel photo snapper with ExmorRS sensor on the back, with Sony G-Lens technology and BIONZ for mobile, and a 2MP front camera for video calling.

At the same time, the forthcoming mobile phone is expected to sport 2GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

The specifications list of the handset also includes WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS receiver, NFC connectivity, MHL for HDMI output through the microUSB port, IPX5/7 certification, and Miracast.

Xperia Honami could be unveiled with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean loaded on top, though chances are that Sony would actually upgrade it to the newer Android 4.3 before it lands on shelves.

Honami has been long said to hit the market as Xperia i1, yet recent reports have suggested that Sony might have decided to call it Xperia Z One (or Xperia Z1), and it remains to be seen which of the two rumors will pan out.

All in all, the upcoming mobile phone appears to be an appealing upgrade to Xperia Z, yet we’ll know for sure what it has to offer only after the official announcement at IFA on September 4. Stay tuned for more on this.
