Japanese semiconductor company Fujitsu, one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world, has signed a patent license agreement with American company Rambus. It seems that Rambus’ technology that we reported here has made a serious impression on Fujitsu.
Rambus is currently the company with one of the best memory technologies in the world. Their design brings both low costs and extremely high performance.
Long story short, the new technology that Rambus has demonstrated during this year’s IDF
event in San Francisco, California, uses low cost DDR3 DIMMs to bring GDDR5-like performance to the processor.

Fujitsu, although one of the smaller semiconductor manufacturers in the global Top 10, is actually seriously involved in high performance computing as they are the makers of the impressive Sparc64 VIIIfx Venus processor that’s now powering the world’s number 2 powerful supercomputer, the famous K computer.
