In an attempt to make its portable computer systems more appealing to the general public, Fujitsu has recently updated a number of its models, in both the notebook and the Tablet PC ranges of products. The system vendor has added high-speed 3G connectivity, enabling users to connect to the Internet by a number of choices. In addition, Fujitsu has also added WWAN connectivity to five of its models, with two more options following in the second quarter of this year.

“For mobile professionals and travelers, a fast data connection has become increasingly vital to ensuring productivity and immediate access to the information they need. Fujitsu will continue to add support for popular broadband services across our product line to ensure our customers have the ability to choose the right solution to meet their needs,” said Paul Moore, senior director of Mobile Product Management, Fujitsu Computer Systems.

Fujitsu has updated the LifeBook T5010, T1010, P1630 and T2020 convertible Tablet PCs, which now join the mini convertible notebook LifeBook U820, providing users with integrated AT&T BroadbandConnect HSUPA. In addition, the LifeBook E8420 notebook is expected to boast support for EV-DO connectivity, a feature that is slated to become available in the second quarter of this year.

As you might expect, adding the WWAN connectivity option to your regular Fujitsu portable computer system will raise the price tag of most of the models that have been updated with the new option. Such an example is the LifeBook T5010 with HSPA, which will be priced at $1,949. In addition, adding WWAN connectivity to your Fujitsu configuration appears to eliminate the legacy modem from the specifications list.

The introduction of 3G connectivity to Fujitsu's portable computer systems will enable users to take advantage of additional means to connect to the Internet, dealing with a faster download speed and overall better Internet-browsing.
