The new devices offers increased performance and portability for active mature customers

We have seen laptop manufacturers launch notebooks for children, teens, professionals working in dangerous conditions, enterprises, gamers and what not.

But as far as we know, there hasn't been a notebook product targeted exclusively at the senior market. Granted, older individuals seem to dislike technology altogether, but it appears that an increasing number of seniors are currently becoming more open to the idea.

Fujitsu takes a plunge and launches the Grannote personal computer (or LifeBook AH90P) targeted at still active mature adults, around the age of 60.

The Grannote comes bundling a pretty conservative look with a design aimed to keep things simple and accessible. With this purpose in mind, Fujitsu has equipped the lappy with larger keycap characters upon the tactile keyboard and its own “Human Centric Engine” (like in Fujitsu smartphones) tech which boosts screen readability and provides a clear audio experience.

Users are also aided with Awaseru Voice, another technology that will automatically adjust the volume levels of high-frequency sounds. Thus hearing spoken words in movies, video or live chat won’t be straining for the elderly customers.

Visibility is also a focus for Fujitsu, so the company uses Intellicolor to automatically adjust color tone in relation to ambient brightness, depending on where users are situated (in natural light or artificial).

The keyboard is said to provide the impression of a single, seamless sheet of ground glass, which doesn't allow the creation of smudges. When users place their fingers on the keyboard surface, the backlit system automatically turns on, providing illumination.

The granny lappy is also pretty powerful, bundling a 4th generation Intel Core i7-4500U processor combined with 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD storage. The machine runs Windows 8.1 out of the box and also has a slot loading Blue-ray drive.

While all this sounds nice and cool, the Grannote will be launched exclusively in Japan on February 13, but so far we don’t know anything pricing.
