With an 8.9-inch Amilo portable computer system

It seems that the netbook market is becoming increasingly interesting for a number of other system manufacturers. And that happens for a valid reason, especially since according to a couple of estimations, netbook manufacturers are expected to ship a good number of millions of their products by the end of this year. Despite the fact that ASUS will probably end up as the manufacturer with the highest number of sold units, other competitors can and will also benefit from this growing market.

According to the German website Netbux, Fujitsu-Siemens is currently considering to enter the above-mentioned market, by releasing its very own netbook. Although yet unannounced, pictures of the new Fujitsu-Siemens product have already been snapped and displayed on the web. And it is this one picture we have here on the left that gives us an idea of how the German system manufacturer intends to become a competitor for the ASUS Eee PC, MSI Wind and Acer Aspire One, which are probably the most mediated netbooks available at the moment.

Even if, for the time being, details about Fujitsu-Siemens' possible product are scarce, still, we have more than enough to make us want more. The netbook will most probably be part of the company's Amilo family, but will sport an 8.9-inch display. As we can easily see, the design keeps it pretty simple, following the same black and white scheme as the company's 3000-series of laptops, which were introduced earlier this year. An Intel Atom processor is also probably going to end up in this new netbook, although the CPU and other technical specifications remain to be confirmed.

Because it is likely poised to become a competitor for other similar netbooks, Fujitsu-Siemens' offer will probably retail in the ?400 range. There's no telling when the product is going to be launched, but with ASUS, MSI and Acer already shipping their versions, Fujitsu-Siemens might want to hurry up with the release.
