Fujitsu Siemens Computers launched two SCENICVIEW ECO monitors, the 20-inch 'P20W-5 ECO' and the 22-inch 'P22W-5 ECO', which are the first zero-watt displays to be launched. The company received thousands of orders from customers across the EMEA region since it announced the zero-watt monitor concept, and the market sees now the first models of the new line as scheduled.

The concept is a brand new one, since usually monitors still need between one and six watts of power even in standby mode. The new display has the ECO mode enabled by default and a switching element controlled by the PC is included in its power supply, which is triggered to totally disconnect from the mains when the monitor powers down. A small electrical pulse restores the display power as soon as the PC sends output to the monitor, and it’s worth noting that both analogue and digital screen outputs support this function.

The two SCENICVIEW ECO monitors are both Premium Line models, which means that, besides the green credentials, they are also feature-packed. There is an enhanced ergonomics stand that comes along with both displays, allowing users to have unparalleled control over the height of the monitors. The lowest that they can be brought nears the desk level.

The ECO displays also come with a new DisplayView AutoBright functionality, which is a control able to adapt the brightness of the monitor to fit that of the ambient light. In addition to reducing the eye strain, the system also provides power savings of up to 30 percent during operations. If the maximum brightness level is needed, the monitor can deliver an amazing 300 cd/m2.

The display resolution of the new ECO models rises up to 1680 x 1050 pixels, while the 5 millisecond response time provides crisp, sharp graphics and no screen artefacts. The new monitors also come with an HDMI interface support, allowing them to handle perfectly high-definition graphics.

The SCENICVIEW ECO models can be ordered immediately across all EMEA countries and the prices for the 20-inch model start at $613 (€419).
