As it was to be expected, after the release of Intel's latest Centrino technology, the Centrino 2, a number of systems manufacturers have rushed to announce their own implementations of it. This is something that shouldn't necessarily surprise anyone, since we're dealing with a technology that promises to improve battery life for notebooks, to the point of allowing users to actually view an entire HD movie with a single battery charge. This time around, it's Fujitsu-Siemens that's taking center stage with its decision of extending the LifeBook lineup with six new notebooks.

"As an innovation leader in this segment, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has integrated Intel's latest technology into new products right from the very outset. We are delighted to present the first business notebooks based on the new processor technology as early as the beginning of August, which underlines our leading market position and our very short product launch times," stated Andreas Thimmel, Senior Vice President Volume Business with Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "This launch is just the first step of a large offensive in the business model segment and we plan to surprise the market more than once this year." Thimmel added.

All of the newly announced portable computer systems, that also include two new tablet PCs, are based on Intel's latest mobile technology. Fujitsu's new offer numbers four notebooks branded as the LifeBook A6120, the E8420, the S6520, and the S7220, and two new tablet PCs, which will be known as the LifeBook T5010 and T1010. All the new portable computer devices are said to come with a broad range of features at reasonable prices.

The two convertible tablet PCs, LifeBook T5010 and T1010, are equipped with a 13.3-inch display and weigh just 4.5 pounds and 5.3 pounds, respectively. The enterprise class T5010 is priced at $1,769, while the T1010 has a price tag of $1299. With the T5010, users will have the possibility of extending the notebook's autonomy by adding an additional battery in a modular bay. The same bay can also be used to accommodate an optical drive. This model will also feature a number of security options meant for the enterprise consumers, which the T1010 will lack.

The new LifeBook E8420 is poised to become the company's new flagship model in its desktop replacement portfolio, bringing a number of security features and performance levels that can rival a desktop computer system.

All of the other new Intel Centrino 2-based LifeBook notebooks come to offer a number of features that will fit the requirements of various types of users. They are two 14.1-inch notebooks, the 4-pound LifeBook S6520, and the thin-and-light LifeBook S7220, which are offered for $1,529 and $1,229, respectively.

The last of the six, the LifeBook A6210, provides users with two 15.4-inch wide-screen display choices and optionally incorporates a Blu-ray optical drive. This notebook will offer its users built-in fingerprint sensor for security and password management.
