Fujitsu has just announced the expansion of its laptop portfolio with the introduction of two AMILO Pi notebooks, which have been designed to provide users with a choice for a 15.6-inch, 16-inch or 18.4-inch system. The two machines, dubbed AMILO Pi 3560 and AMILO Pi 3660, have been featured with Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors and have been designed to meet the demands of multimedia enthusiasts, but can also pass as a choice for mainstream users.

Rajat Kakar, vice-president, Clients Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says, “Fujitsu offers a broad portfolio covering the needs of every type of user. The AMILO Pi 3560/3660 is perfect for work or play, particularly for multimedia and entertainment use, either on its own or as a key element of a home entertainment network.”

The AMILO Pi 3560 offers a choice for a 15.6-inch or a 16-inch display and comes with optional Blu-ray, HDMI connectivity and the NVIDIA GeForce GT240M 1GB graphics card. The AMILO Pi 3660 has been featured with an 18.4-inch 16:9 display and includes the same Blu-ray, HMDI and NVIDIA GeForce options, all of which are there to support the requirements of multimedia enthusiasts. In addition, the two laptops have also been built with standard WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity.

Additional features of the new laptops include a 1.3MP webcam, microphone array and eSATA port, while the entire system is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and a 320GB or 500GB hard drive. The two also come with full-sized, spill-proof keyboards and include S/PDIF port and 5-in-1 memory card reader.

Unfortunately, the PC vendor hasn’t yet announced the pricing and availability details, but there’s a good chance that these two will become available sometime after the launch of Microsoft’s much-anticipated Windows 7 operating system, alongside a number of other systems from competitors.
