Every time Intel or AMD launch a new processor family, a slew of product announcements follows as every company hurries to intro their refreshed product lineup, Fujitsu doing the same thing today as it touts its new Lifebook notebooks with second generation Intel Core processors.

Together with these new laptop models, Fujitsu is also announcing its new “true family” concept, that asks for identical main components to be used in all of Fujitsu's systems, including motherboard, BIOS, front connector board, power supply and software images.

Aimed at the enterprise market, this feature cuts down the number of tests needed to be run in order to confirm that the systems are compatible with their future operating environment.

The new product lineup is comprised of the 13.3-inch Lifebook T901 convertible tablet PC, the Lifebook P701 and P771 12.1-inch ultraportables and the Lifebook A531 and AH531 models that include a Blu-ray drive and 3G connectivity.

Also announced today are the 13.3-inch S761 and 14-inch S751 portables, the 14-inch LH531 notebook as well as the 15.6-inch Lifebook E751 and the 17.3-inch NH751 desktop replacement laptops that carry Blu-ray drives and discrete graphics.

Further details regarding the hardware configuration are not available at this time, but all new Lifebook models get 0-Watt AC adapters, that draw no power at all when the notebook is in off mode, and anti-bacterial keyboard coatings.

“The new PC and notebook models from Fujitsu are more energy-efficient and more powerful than ever – and the desktop PCs run so silently that you’d hardly notice they are there,” said Rajat Kakar, vice president of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

“With the new family concept for both Esprimo desktop PCs and Lifebook notebooks, we are helping organizations to fast-track the introduction of updated models to their fleet of notebooks and PCs, by concentrating on the same core components right across entire model ranges,” concluded the company's rep.

Pricing is to be set, Fujitsu stating that the new Lifebook models will start shipping from March 2011 across the EMEA region.
