One of the companies that might announce a new Windows Phone-based handset in the near future is Fujitsu, reportedly gearing up for the unveiling of this smartphone no later than August.

The company is supposedly aiming at releasing a waterproof smartphone running under Windows Phone Mango, the next iteration of Microsoft's platform, as soon as late August, and would have it on shelves at wireless carrier KDDI under the name of IS12T.

At the same time, rumor has it that the new device would be priced anywhere between 30,000 - 40,000 yen ($378 - $500), though official confirmation on it has not emerged so far.

Provided that the rumor do pan out, the handset might be unveiled to the world before the official release of Microsoft's next mobile platform iteration, supposedly set for October.

In addition to these details, some info on what could become the first Windows Phone handset from Fujitsu also emerged, suggesting that it might be nothing more than a reworked Android phone from the company.

Apparently the vendor already previewed its Windows Phone handset, which resembles a lot with the Android-based REGZA T-01C which is available at the moment on the airwaves of NTT DoCoMo.

Both smartphoners reportedly come with a distinctive camera ring design, while also sporting three front-panel buttons that offer the same styling.

The Android device is also water-resistant, which makes the two resemble even more.

If so, the Windows Phone handset from Fujitsu might be launched with a 4-inch LCD display, a 12.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and 720p HD video capture capabilities, and more.

When released, the said device might actually pack a different processor than the original, and would also lack the personalizations that were included with the Android handset, though it would also sport features specific to the phone maker, that's for sure.
