Small, quiet and power saving

Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation announced the launch of their latest server designed for use in homes, small offices and businesses, the PRIMERGY TX120. According to the manufacturing company, this latest server aimed at SOHO use is the world's smallest, quietest, and best power-saving computer server from its class. Because the Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 is designed to be used outside of a normal server room, it was specifically designed to take up less room and consume less energy while being quieter than all other server lines.

Because dedicated servers are now found in businesses and offices that were not initially equipped to handle and house too many computer systems and even less server systems, Fujitsu designed the PRIMERGY TX120 to be about a third the size of a typical server and be quiet enough in order not to disturb workers sitting in the general vicinity. With a maximum power draw of only 163 watts, the new Fujitsu server needs way less power than most standard office and home computers and only a fraction of the power needed by a dedicated and traditional server solution.

Available in specialized stores from September 2007, the Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 server system comes equipped with a dual core Intel processor from the Xeon family that has up to 4MB of cache memory and a maximum frontside bus speed of 1066MHz, but a lower cost, lower performance solution is available that integrates a Celeron processor. System memory can go up to 32GB packed away in a maximum of 4 DIMMs of buffered memory with error correction capabilities. For maximum storage flexibility and ease of expansion, a 4-way SAS controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 1E is provided, as well as 2 hot-plug SAS hard disks.

Managing and controlling the Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX120 is possible even from a distance as the server comes with the Integrated Remote Management Controller (iRMC for short) that is connectible with other computer systems via the integrated 1 Gbit/s Ethernet network controller which offers the Service LAN option for iRMC. The PRIMERGY TX120 server is priced from a starting point of $1,058.
