Last year, Fujitsu-Siemens made its debut into the market for netbook computer systems with the introduction of its Amilo Mini netbook, featuring an 8.9-inch display and the familiar Intel Atom N270 processor. The company has recently decided to update its offering with the release of its new 10-inch LOOX M netbook, which combines a new and sleek exterior design with the technical performance of the same Intel Atom N270 processor platform. Basically, aside from an improved display, the LOOX M netbook offers the same features as almost every other 10-inch netbook on the market.

According to the available specifications, the LOOX M will be available in both red and white, providing users with a 10.1-inch display capable of a maximum resolution of 1024 by 576 pixels. The system is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, coupled with 1GB of DDR2 RAM memory and a 160GB hard drive. So far, this has become the standard configuration for most netbooks on the market.

Additionally, the LOOX M boasts integrated wireless 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports, a multicard reader, built-in webcam and a D-Sub connector for an additional display. Packed with a Windows XP Home Edition SP3 operating system, the netbook is ready to provide the basic in computing performance, offering support for common Office tasks, Internet browsing and playing some media files.

Price-wise, Fujitsu is asking about US$611 for this new netbook, making it one of those expensive alternatives on the netbook market. Unfortunately, we have no details as to when this new netbook will become available in some other parts, like US or Europe, but given the details related to its pricing and overall features, we have some doubts regarding the success level it will enjoy.
