Tomorrow is the first day of the IFA consumer electronics show, which will be held in Berlin and will end on September 3. According to the official website, the event will have a record attendance of 1,212 exhibitors coming in from 32 countries, which means that a high number of major companies will be announcing several brand new products. Fujitsu-Siemens will also be attending the event and, according to early reports, will finally introduce its own small-sized, Atom-powered Eee PC competitor, which has already been spotted on the Internet some time ago.

With the new Amilio Mini being showcased at IFA, this means that attendants will have the chance to test the new netbook and see whether Fujitsu-Siemens has succeeded in developing a really solid competitor for ASUS' vast Eee PC lineup or not.

As expected, the netbook will be powered by the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor that is featured on the majority of the other netbooks currently available on the market. It will sport 1GB of system memory, and will be offered with a Windows XP operating system. Storage will be based on a hard disk drive with capacities ranging from 30GB to 80GB.

Unfortunately, until the company officially unveils the netbook, there aren't that many technical specifications to go on. Even though no one can really say when the official unveiling will take place, it will most certainly happen in the upcoming days, so we should know more details very soon.

The netbook market has grown considerably over the last year, mainly due to the release of Intel's Atom CPU, which now powers most of the small-sized sub-notebook systems available. Currently, major manufactures, such as ASUS, MSI, Acer and Lenovo, are the main competitors in this fast-growing market. However, other manufacturers are expected to announce their own netbook systems at the IFA event in Berlin. According to recent rumors, besides Fujitsu, LG is also set to come out with a netbook.
