The device could see the light of day at Photokina 2014 in Germany

The Fujifilm X30 has been in the news before, as we were expecting it to arrive at the beginning of July, coming as a replacement of the high-end compact camera X20.

Initially, it was believed that the camera would arrive with a 1-inch type sensor, but now a trusted Japanese source has talked to Fuji Rumors and revealed that the X30 will actually boast a 2/3-inch type sensor (which is the same as the one found in the X20).

As for when we’ll actually see the camera arrive in the wild, we’re going to have to rely on what our gut tells us and say watch out for it at Photokina 2014. And even if the X30 doesn’t get announced during the event, there’s still a possibility Fujifilm will tease the device on the grounds in Germany.

As we wait on the X30, I’m taking the opportunity to remind you that Fuji X20 was launched with a 12-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II image sensor and takes advantage of an EXR Processor II image processing engine.

The camera features 2.8-inch LCD screen, full HD video recording, and a lens delivering a 35mm equivalent of 28-112mm with a max aperture of f/2-2.8. The device can still be purchased off Amazon, but you’d better hurry up before it runs out of stock.
