14 DAY TRIAL // Rumors related to Fujifilm’s upcoming flagship X-mount camera have been around for more than a year, and lots of industry watchers were expecting to see the X-PRO2 make a debut into the wild at Photokina 2014.
But the event came and went but we still didn't see it appear. What’s more, one of the company’s representatives said the camera wouldn’t be coming anytime soon.
Still, it doesn't mean all hope is dead. Fuji Rumors brings us a new tidbit that’s meant to rekindle our hopes. According to an insider source who attended one of Fuji’s events, the camera will be introduced in early 2015 or during the first half of 2015.
Fuji X-PRO2 might make it out in early 2015
This latest report is in accord with previous reports which also said the X-PRO1 replacement will make an appearance in the first quarter of 2015.
Since the source mentions early 2015 as a time frame, we should keep a watchful eye on what happens at CES 2015 and the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging 2015.
These are two major events in the world of tech and Fuji is expected to attend both and bring some new goodies along for the ride as well.
Like the recently-rumored dedicated flash gun with high-speed sync support, it appears the source believes the new mirrorless will arrive side by side to the flash, so as to provide more options for professional photographers.
Since the X-PRO2 has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, some of its specifications have inevitably made it online, although not all sources agree on what will reside under the hood of the new camera.

But one thing seems to be sure, the camera will hit the streets with an APS-C 24MP X-Trans sensor, which will be of the non-organic variety. On top of that, the camera will have built-in Wi-Fi and take advantage of a tilt screen.
Since the recently unveiled X100T arrives with a hybrid viewfinder, it’s very possible the X-PRO2 will take advantage of a similar feat.
Apart from that, we’re pretty much in the dark related to specs. To compare, the X-PRO1 takes advantage of a 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS sensor with built-in hybrid viewfinder that combines optical with electronic elements.
The camera takes advantage of a 3-inch LCD screen on the back and comes equipped with a wide host of buttons and dials, which is why the camera has proven so popular with a lot of photography enthusiasts.
At the moment, the X-PRO1 sells for a discounted rate, which is a pretty good indicator the X-PRO2 should be coming soon.
