The company also has three other models

Aside from the 18x optical zoom SLR-like S8000fd, Fujifilm has also announced four new compacts, each aimed at a different class of consumers.

Let's start with the one that has the highest number of megapixels, the FinePix F50fd. This model combines all of Fujifilm's key technologies in an elegant compact package. For around $300, you get a 12 MegaPixel 7th Generation Super CCD, a 3.0x optical zoom lens and a huge 2.7-inch high-resolution 230,000 pixel wide angle view LCD.

The camera also features the new image stabilization technology via CCD shifting incorporated in the S8000fd and the new Face Detection 2.0 Technology with Automatic Red Eye Removal function, which covers extreme camera angles.

In terms of ISO sensitivity, the F50fd goes up to 6400, but no matter how advanced Fujifilm's technology in image processing might be, extreme values are not recommended.

The second camera on today's compact list is the FinePix A920, with 9 megapixels. This one comes with the same 1/ 1.6-inch Super CCD HR, which is clearly superior to any other solution used by the competition, a 4.0x optical zoom lens and a generous 2.7 inch LCD. The FinePix A920 does not have the new CCD shifting image stabilization, nor the face detection technology, but it comes with a very attractive $200 price tag.

Third is the F480, which combines an 8-megapixel 1/2.5-inch CCD (not the special 1/1.6 inch Super CCD HR) with a 4x optical zoom 28 mm-112mm lens. However, the low $180 price tag means that there are no exotic technologies present.

The last model is the FinePix Z10fd and it's clearly the most stylish of them all; in fact, Fujifilm informs that it's a "new digital camera designed specifically for today's fashion-conscious digital natives". Unlike the cute design, the specifications are not quite stellar. This models incorporates a 7.2MP 1/2.5 CCD (again no special 1/1.6 inch Super CCD HR), which is combined with a standard 3x optical zoom. It does have face detection, but that's about it. However, considering the $200 price tag it's difficult to criticize Fujifilm for making this model so "featureless".
