According to freshly squeezed rumors making rounds on the Internet, Fuji is gearing up to launch something interesting this summer.

The very reliable FujiRumors now reports Fujifilm might be scheduled to release a new digital medium format mirrorless camera in the next few months.

Of course, don’t get totally excited just yet and take this information with a grain a salt, but the fact is two separate sources have confirmed this information.

The second anonymous source brings more details, by revealing the new digital medium format mirroless camera is said to look like the X-PRO1. The prototype has a hybrid viewfinder, but the camera’s overall size is more akin to the Fuji GF670.

Furthermore, the camera is said to be using the same Sony CMOS sensor present in the Pentax 645z, a device that offers the ability to create time lapse videos in 4K.

Things are surely getting heated in the mirrorless camera department and Sony has been said to be launching a Mamiya 7-style MF camera of its own. So Fuji has to jump in with something to match.

A bunch of medium format digital mirrorless cameras by Fujifilm have been in the rumor mill for a while now, including the X200, X30 and X-PRO2, but we will have to wait and see if one of these purported cameras is headed for a summer unveiling or not.
