Besides its popular X-series interchangeable lens cameras, Fujifilm's bridge and compact cameras also come with high-tech features and the Finepix F series is a good example.

Today, Fujifilm Japan announced the Finepix F1000EXR compact camera that comes with a 0.5-second high-speed AF, which makes it the world's fastest autofocus found on a compact camera. Let's take a closer look at this new model and see what improvements have been made over the previous F900EXR model.

Besides its ultra-fast autofocus that also makes use of Fujifilm's Phase Detection technology, the new F1000EXR comes with a 20x optical zoom lens that offers a 35mm focal range equivalent of 25-500mm f/3.5-5.3.

The new model comes equipped with a backlit 16MP EXR CMOS II image sensor and is powered by an EXR Processor II. The camera has a 1.1-second startup time, 0.01-second shutter time lag, a shot interval of 0.5 seconds, and is capable of capturing up to 11 frames per second in burst shooting mode.

In addition to that, the F1000EXR features enhanced Wi-Fi functions that allow you to instantly share and back up your photos on your smartphone, tablet, or PC. Moreover, you can use the Fujifilm Camera Remote app to remotely control your digital camera functions (zoom, shutter speed) directly from your smart device.

Fujifilm F1000EXR is also equipped with a 3-inch 920k-dot high-definition LCD monitor with an extended viewing angle and has a high ISO sensitivity of up to ISO12,800, which will surely come in handy when shooting in low-light conditions.

When it comes to video capabilities, the F1000EXR can capture 1080p Full HD video footage at 60 frames per second with stereo audio and optical zoom during shooting.

Fujifilm F1000EXR will be available in Japan starting February 8, but no actual price has been revealed by the Nippon manufacturer. We expect that the camera will hit market shelves with a price tag around $300 / €220.
