Fujifilm FP-3000B was the only B&W instant film available on the market for 3x4 format

Japanese optics manufacturer, Fujifilm has announced in a recent press release that the FP-3000B Instant Black and White film for 3x4 format cameras will be discontinued.

The decision comes as the demand for some instant film has declined while various film cameras, like the new Instax camera or the Mini 90 Neo Classic, have seen an increased popularity among buyers.

"We have seen the popularity of many instant film products rise dramatically recently, in particular the new Instax camera, the Mini 90 Neo Classic. Unfortunately the demand for some instant film has declined, hence the discontinuation of FP-3000B. Fujifilm will continue to market the colour instant film, FP-100C plus the full range of Instax cameras and associated films," said Gabriel Da Costa, product manager for Professional Film.

The last batch of Fujifilm FP-3000B will be shipped to the UK in March 2014. A while ago, an online petition has been launched by Photographer Michael Ash Smith to get Fujifilm to reconsider their decision, but it seems that didn't stop Fuji to think otherwise.
