This week kickstarts in style for Fujifilm as your favorite photo company has unleashed its first weather-sealed X-mount.

The XF 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens just went official and will be launched on the market this July.

You might remember that Fuji launched their first weather-sealed X-series camera towards the start of 2014. The X-T1 quickly became a hit due to its combo of appealing features.

Back then, there was talk about the new weather-sealed optics, too, but the mount has never been properly introduced to the world. Until this week, when the magic eventually happened.

The Fujinon XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens have finally made it into the wild bundling a bunch of interesting feats we’ve had no knowledge of until today.

For starters, we should tell you that the new optic is a weather-resistant pro-grade one that will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent to approximately 27-206mm.

Fujifilm says great image sharpness and contrast is achieved thanks to four aspherical glass elements and two Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements.

The producing company is using a multi-layer HTC-EBC coating in order to diminish other optical flaws, such as ghosting and flare.

The new lens is being offered with 20 weather-sealing points, which makes the optic dustproof and waterproof, meaning photographers will be able to shoot in unfriendly weather conditions.

One of the most appealing features you’ll probably stumble upon with the new lens is the built-in ventilator. It lives at the barrel’s base and it awakens when you’re performing zooming in or out.

Therefore, Fujifilm says no dust or moisture should go into your lens and zooming is performed without any problem.

What’s more, the company confirmed the lens will arrive with the world’s most advanced image stabilization technology, meaning that the accessory should be able to provide up to 5 f-stops of stabilization.

These achievements come about thanks to the new gyroscope sensors that are equipped with a very high precision in detecting any kinds of movements, whatsoever.

Moreover, the new Fujifilm XF 18-35mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens is equipped with a fast and silent autofocus system.

It should also be highlighted that Fujifilm has done everything in its power in order to decrease the bulk of the lens. Therefore, the Fujinon XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 currently weighs 490 g / 1.08 lbs, measuring a maximum length of 98mm / 3.85-inches.

Fuji will start shipping the lenses in July for $899.95 / €664 a pop and B&H PhotoVideo is already taking pre-orders for it.
